Jesus, without being recognized, joined two disciples who were walking the road to Emmaus after the Crucifixion. Jesus asked why they were so sad. Although He surely knew the answer, Jesus let Cleopas tell his version of the Savior’s death and reports of the Resurrection.
Jesus listened to this perspective and then responded to the disciples’ specific concerns. (See Luke 24:13–48.) Asking questions and listening to a person’s story can help you better understand, even when you think you know their situation.
